How Mijmara Builds Its Perfume Pages, and What We Don't Do

The short version

Mijmara is a reference catalog, not a testing lab. We do not smell, wear, or score the perfumes on this site. Each perfume page is assembled from published product data, then described in Arabic and English by AI language models. This page explains each step, what it can and cannot tell you, and how to report an error.

Where the data comes from

• Arab and Gulf houses (about 2,100 perfumes from 20 houses). We collected product listings automatically from the houses' own online stores: names in Arabic and English, listed notes, concentration, and bottle images.
• International houses (about 960 perfumes). Selected from Parfumo, a public fragrance database, starting with the most-reviewed perfumes.
• Filling gaps. Where a store listing had no notes, we filled some of them from public Fragrantica and Parfumo listings, and kept a note only when the automated match was confident.

About 4% of perfumes still have no note data at all. Their pages say so instead of guessing.

How notes, accords, and families are assigned

Notes (rose, oud, saffron and so on) are taken directly from the sources above. You can browse them in the notes index.

Accords such as woody, amber, or fresh spicy are not listed by most brands, so we estimate them. A statistical model, trained on a large external set of perfumes whose notes and accord strengths are known, predicts how strongly each accord shows up given a perfume's note list. The accords index shows the results. Each perfume's scent family is then derived from its leading accords.

These are estimates from the note list, not measurements of the liquid. About one perfume in ten still carries accords from an older, simpler method that we know is less reliable, and those are being re-scored.

Who writes the descriptions

Perfume descriptions, brand histories, and articles are drafted by AI language models (currently models from Google and OpenAI) using the catalog data above. The Arabic and English versions are written in separate passes from the same data. The Arabic text is not a translation of the English.

Automated checks run on drafts: length, Arabic script in Arabic fields, and working internal links. These checks catch formatting problems, not factual errors. They do not replace a human editor, and most of the text on Mijmara has not been individually reviewed by a person.

What we do not do

• We do not test perfumes, on skin or on fabric.
• We do not run heat or humidity trials, or any lab or climate tests.
• We do not have a tasting or testing panel, and no local experts score the perfumes.
• We do not score perfumes against a checklist of criteria, and perfume pages carry no Mijmara rating.
• We do not aggregate user reviews. The site has no user reviews.

Words like thabat (longevity) and intishar (projection) in our descriptions are general descriptions based on a perfume's notes and published information. They are not measured results. Skin, weather, and how much you apply all change how a perfume wears.

How Mijmara makes money

Perfume pages include an "Acquire on noon" button. It is an affiliate link: it searches noon for the perfume's name, and if you buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The button also shows a discount code. The link is the same kind of search for every perfume. It does not change which perfumes we list or what the descriptions say.

What is changing

[Planned, not yet live.] We are rebuilding the catalog so that core facts (launch year, perfumer, concentration, notes) come from official brand sources, with the source recorded for each fact. We are also building a reviewed map of which Arab perfumes are inspired by which Western perfumes. This page will be updated when that work goes live, with the date.
