Nagarmotha, or Cypriol, is derived from the roots of the Cyperus scariosus plant. Its olfactive profile is complex, offering a dark, earthy, and leathery character with spicy, woody undertones reminiscent of vetiver and patchouli. Primarily used as a base note, it provides exceptional tenacity and depth. In the Gulf, it is highly prized for its ability to bridge the gap between raw, animalic oud and modern floral accords, adding a sophisticated, resinous intensity that resonates with traditional Middle Eastern perfumery.
