About Mijmara

mijmara-desk

Mijmara is a perfume reference for the Gulf, covering Arab oud, bakhoor, and perfume houses alongside international luxury brands. The name mijmara comes from the traditional incense burner that has scented Gulf majlis gatherings for centuries.

The site is bilingual: Arabic by default at /, English at /en/. It is free to read and there are no user accounts. Mijmara earns money through affiliate links to noon, explained below.

What we cover

  • More than 3,000 perfumes
  • 20 Arab and Gulf perfume houses (Lattafa, Amouage, Ajmal, Arabian Oud, Swiss Arabian, and more)
  • More than 200 international brands (Dior, Chanel, Tom Ford, Creed, Maison Francis Kurkdjian, and more)
  • About 1,600 perfume notes, 98 accords, and 18 scent families
  • 99 articles, from oud and bakhoor guides to alternatives to well-known Western perfumes

How we work

Perfume data comes from two places: the Arab houses' own online stores, and Parfumo, a public fragrance database, for international brands. Accords and scent families are estimated by a statistical model from each perfume's notes. We do not smell or test the perfumes ourselves.

Descriptions and articles are drafted by AI language models from that data. Arabic and English are written separately from the same data, so the Arabic is not a translation of the English. Most of this text has not been individually reviewed by a person, and it can contain mistakes.

For sources, models, and known limitations, see our methodology page.

How Mijmara makes money

Purchase links may be affiliate links: if you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are disclosed beside the purchase information and do not change which perfumes we list or what our descriptions say.

What we don't do

No user accounts and no pop-up ads. No physical testing, testing panel, or perfume scores. No user reviews yet.
